One of their most impactful campaigns was the protest against the discharge of untreated sewage and industrial waste into the Hindon River and Kondli Drain, both of which ultimately affect the Yamuna and Ganga river systems. This movement successfully prevented approximately 500 million litres per day (MLD) of polluted effluents from contaminating these vital water bodies, helping to preserve groundwater quality and protect aquatic biodiversity.

Volunteers137 has also taken strong action on the restoration and protection of 1,031 water bodies and 192 wetlands, spanning over 144,000 hectares. Their protest campaigns against single-use plastics have further emphasized their commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
A particularly serious concern addressed by the group is the severe pollution in the Kondli Drain, known for its foul-smelling, stagnant water that significantly pollutes the Yamuna River, the longest tributary of the Ganges and the second-largest in terms of water volume. This pollution affects an estimated 50 million residents, posing a serious threat to public health, water security, and ecological balance across Northern India.
Additionally, Volunteers137 has raised awareness about the pollution in the Mandakini River, a sacred tributary of the Ganga. The Mandakini, which flows through ecologically and spiritually significant areas, is increasingly endangered by domestic waste discharge, tourism-related pollution, and encroachments. The group has urged authorities to take urgent action to regulate waste management and restore the river's natural flow, safeguarding its cultural and environmental importance.
Through data-driven advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and unwavering dedication, Volunteers137 continues to be a powerful voice for water conservation, river rejuvenation, and environmental justice in Uttar Pradesh and beyond.
